Staking doesn’t have to mean locking your tokens. Brasa lets you earn yield while keeping your FOGO usable.
What is Liquid Staking?
Normally when you stake tokens, they get locked up. With liquid staking, that doesn't happen. You earn staking rewards while still being able to use your tokens in DeFi applications. That's what makes Brasa Finance so useful.
Getting Started
Go to brasa.finance. You can also find this link in your Nightly wallet.
Click Sign In and choose your wallet.
Set your session duration (check out our post on sessions for more on this) and approve the connection.
How to Stake
Once connected, you'll see your FOGO balance. To stake:
Enter the amount of FOGO you want to change to stFOGO (This is staked FOGO)
Click Stake
You'll receive stFOGO (staked FOGO) in return
That's it. You're now earning staking rewards.
How to Unstake
When you want to convert back to regular FOGO:
Click the Unstake tab
Enter the amount of stFOGO to unstake (or click Max)
Click Unstake
FOGO is returned to your wallet
Understanding stFOGO Value
You might notice that 1 stFOGO is worth more than 1 FOGO (for example, 1 stFOGO = 1.3 FOGO). This is how liquid staking tokens (LSDs) work.
Your stFOGO is still staked to a validator (like the Fogi's Hub validator), generating APY. Instead of distributing rewards separately, the value of stFOGO grows over time. In a month or two, 1 stFOGO might be worth 1.4 or 1.5 FOGO.
This is exactly why staking is valuable: your tokens grow in value while you hold them.
A Note on APY
At the time of writting this, the APY is very high. Keep in mind that as more people stake (TVL increases), the APY typically decreases. Early stakers often benefit from higher initial rates.
